One of the best parts of being a web and graphic designer is helping fellow entrepreneurs bring their dream(s) to fruition. Not too long ago, a business had to have a storefront or be in a building. It had to design, print, and send out brochures, business cards, and postcards as well as buy advertisements just to be able to inform a limited number of people about their products, services, and location. To contact the business, you had to call or stop by.
Well, welcome to the new age (I know, I know – it’s not that new anymore)! Nowadays, when you want to launch or promote a business, the best, most efficient way to do so is to have a website in order to reach the masses (with the help of social media, of course).
Many people try to DIY their website; and for some, this is a successful and easy experience. But for most of the world, this is not the ideal way to spend your time or money. Typically, you end up spending more time and money in the long run when you try to build your own site…and the frustration level is usually so high it could easily cause you to scream and pull your hair out…and who knows what you’d look like bald!
My role is to help you keep your hair on your head and relieve a lot of frustration.
Let me give you an example. My client, Rebecca Gruenspan, of RG Adoption Consulting, had a dream of launching her own business but needed a platform (that’s where I swept in). In January 2014, Rebecca launched her domestic adoption consulting business and her website, www.rgadoptionconsulting.com.
Ever since adopting her own child in 2011, Rebecca had the burning desire to help other people navigate through the domestic adoption process. Now, she is doing what she loves, and having a website that she is proud of helps her connect not only with potential clients, but anyone wanting to learn more about domestic adoption.
I had the privilege of designing Rebecca’s logo, designing and coding her website, and setting up her email marketing program which integrates with her website by enabling visitors to sign up for her newsletter. Although the site was technically completed back in February, there is ongoing maintenance and content additions that take place on a regular basis (which is the case for every website).
I provide all of my clients with a “Site Maintenance Instruction Manual,” which is personalized with screenshots and detailed instructions based on the plugins, content, and other features of their website. While the manual is very detailed, there are still some areas of the website, email marketing program, social media, etc. that a client may not want to mess around with – either because of a lack of desire, time, and/or skills.
See – here’s the thing: I really, truly enjoy designing, coding, tweaking, etc. – all to ensure that your website is up-to-date, functioning properly, and that it contains all of the bells, whistles, and content you want it to have in it. That’s why I got into this business in the first place – well, to help people fulfill their dreams AND because I like those geeky tasks!
“I realized that styling my blog posts every two weeks, making sure they looked perfect on all devices, setting up my newsletters, and editing my site was taking up way too much of my time and, frankly, I didn’t enjoy it. So, Stefani’s “Support Me” package was a no-brainer,” Rebecca said.
Now, Rebecca and I work together regularly to ensure that her website has everything she wants and needs so that her business is performing at its best in the digital/virtual world, and she can spend her time with clients and other tasks, which in turn results in her business performing at its best in the “real” world.
I am thrilled with our partnership and honored to share her website with you.
There really is nothing more satisfying than helping my clients be able to do what they love! Here’s to bringing those dreams to fruition!
